I see the trees and water. I feel the sun. I breathe the air.  I am Grateful. I am ALIVE.

That is how my path to HERE started.  I grew up in a small town in Saskatchewan with two parents who are teachers.  My siblings and I were endlessly exploring the natural world around us and with the treasures we found from the earth, we created passionate works of art and science.

Influenced by our magical upbringing, my brother, my sister and I, all set out on adventures of travel and education after high school. I went to university in Saskatoon and obtained a Masters degree in Biomedical Engineering and a Physiotherapy degree.  As I pursued these degrees, I kept travelling around the world and working various jobs to get the experience that always complements and nurtures the bookwork. Life.  I enjoyed (and still do) the food, the dance, the psychology, the art, the science, the math and the music that creates the human cultures and the human condition.  Being ALIVE.

Luckily, another passion of mine has always been sharing knowledge and teaching.  Over the last 19 years,  I am grateful to have had the opportunities to be a physiotherapist in both a private clinic and at St. Joseph's Hospital in Vancouver.  In addition, I have taught physiology, pathology and anatomy to Medical students at UBCO in Kelowna, Nursing students at Langara College in Vancouver,  Physiotherapy Assistant students at Grant MacEwan University in Edmonton, Massage Therapy students at Mackay Career Training in Saskatoon and B.Sc students at the University of Saskatoon.   But ... It's a funny thing because,  I was the one who received an education from both my patients and my students over those years.  In the background of every ward in the hospital and every class I taught was, well, Life. Happening. For me, for the patients and for the students.  ALIVE.

I am now the mama of 3  kind, humorous, intelligent and compassionate boys.  I just LOVE them!  I joke to my husband that our DNA was crazily mixed in a blender and spat out three very different purees of love!  And now, once more, I find myself learning every day from our three little loves.

I find myself back at the beginning, exploring nature and its amazingness with our sons,  just like I explored with my siblings 46 years ago in small town Saskatchewan.  I find myself learning, not just every day, but in each moment, from our sons! ... Each moment.  Each moment is very special and very important.  Because each moment teaches us something new and valuable.  Because each moment fills us with LOVE if we let it.   Because each moment allows us to give LOVE if we would like to.  I want to notice each moment.  I want to nurture each moment.  I want to value each moment.  I want to live each moment.

I see the trees and water. I feel the sun. I breathe the air. I am grateful. I am ALIVE.

ALIVE MOVEMENT AND MINDFULNESS

"Mama!" He exclaimed. "If there was A Golden Word instead of A Golden Rule, do you know what it would be?"

"What would it be?" I asked.

"TRY" He stated simply

So,  after being a physiotherapist and teaching physiology, pathology and anatomy for 19 years, I engaged myself in being trained in yoga, healing massage and mindfulness.   One of my awesome and artistic sons painted this beautiful watercolor for me to use in my new venture. I was and I still am completely moved by my son's art, his compassion, his enthusiasm and his confidence.  Everyday I learn from my 3 sons and I am now beginning to understand this amazing adventure of being ALIVE!

P.s   -  When I started ALIVE, my  two younger sons asked,  "Mama, can we come to your class when it starts?"

"Well."  I hesitated. "The first class is only for mamas.  Do you really want to come?"  I asked.

"Oh? Um? Let us think about it."  The two of them deliberated and quickly replied. "Actually, yes, we should be there.   We know alot about mamas. You could probably use our help."

He he he. The genius of children
